Abstract

Died Vladimir A. Yadov, the Titan of Russian sociology. For future generations his name and history of Russian sociology will remain connected forever. For students he was a living legend, generations of students have studied and will study in his fundamental textbook "Strategy of sociological research", the first Russian textbook on the methodology of sociological research. His work "Man and his work", published in 1967 not lost relevance until now, almost 50 years later, was raised by the older generation of sociologists when there were no professional sociological education. With its tolerance for qualitative methods at a time when he wasDirector of the Institute of sociology, began the rapid development of the national "understanding" of sociology. We are fortunate that at the helm of the Institute was Vladimir, who did not share these ideas, but has provided "space" for their development, the opportunity to work in that direction, which it did not agree withlook at sociology, and personal experience.
