Abstract
The authors aim to study the mechanism of the political mobilization in Russia started after the State Duma elections that were held on 4 December 2011, but they mainly focus on the role of diff erent forms of internet-communication in the process of mobilization rather than mobilization itself. In other words, without regard to the issues of goals, structure and nature of the Russian civic movement, the authors analyze means and conditions of the protest mobilization which happened with the help of diff erent internet-platforms and forms of computer-mediated communication. The paper examines internet-discussions on the initial stage of the civic movement which were held on such internet-recourses as LiveJournal, Facebook and Twitter in December 2011. The authors try to answer a fairly simple research question, what exactly happened on diff erent internet-platforms in the process of involvement of the internet-users in the protest actions which are based on socio-political demands. What special role does an internetcommunication play in this involvement? When and how is realized the transition from a virtual communication to a social activism which goes beyond the internet?
